Amateur Radio Club To Participate in Field Day June 23-24
The J.F. Drake State Technical College Amateur Radio Club will participate in the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day June 23-24.
Field Day is a 27-hour contest where the club members participate in communication exercises from remote locations in preparation for disasters and civil emergencies. They earn points for every radio contact they make.
The club invites the public to join them at the GOTA station at the Renewable Energy Lab in the back of campus. GOTA stands for “get on the air.” The Field Day will run from noon on Saturday, June 23, until 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 24.
Last year the club made more than 2,000 contacts, and they hope to do as well this year.
For more information about Field Day, contact Karl Henry, electronics instructor and chair of the engineering technology division, at (256) 551-1709.
