Chief Of MDA’s Science & Technology Office To Speak At Drake State Graduation
(HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA) - Dr. David Burns, Chief of the Science & Technology Office in the Missile Defense Agency’s Advanced Technology Directorate, will be the key note speaker for the Drake State Graduation Ceremonies. The event will take place at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 13 in North Hall of the Von Braun Civic Center.
Burns is a Senior Executive (Senior Scientist, ST), and included amongst the many functions of his office are: directing missile defense academic research; executing the agency’s Small Business Innovation Research program; and motivating a new generation to pursue missile defense careers.
Approximately 200 certificates and diplomas will be awarded to graduates of Drake State’s programs. This year, for the first time, graduates of the Adult Education Program, who have received their GEDs, will also be honored.
Each year, Drake State honors members of the community for their contributions to the college. This year’s honorees include Mr. Douglas Hilton, student leader; Mr. Thomas Perkins, industry partner; The Honorable Laura Hall, State Representative and retired educator; and Mr. Eddie Turner, advocate for technical education.
