Drake State Hosts Career Fair for Renewable Energy Program
Nexus Energy Center is creating jobs for residents in Alabama through the Renewable Energy of North Alabama Construction Industry courses, which are conducted at J.F. Drake State Technical College in Huntsville, AL. A career fair was held December 12, 2011 at Drake State for students who were currently enrolled or had completed the Renewable Energy courses. The companies present included Still Serving Veterans, Aerotek, Synergy Airflow, Southern Solar, and H C Blake.
Drake State received a $458,300 State Energy Sector Grant awarded the college by Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). The program is designed to train 200 technicians on selected areas of renewable energy system installation and maintenance over the next year.
Nexus Energies is a non-profit organization that facilitates regional partnerships to advance the efficient use of energy in homes, buildings and industry in the Southeast U.S. Nexus works to leverage knowledge, capability, learning and funding through regionally coordinated policies, programs and practices. Nexus is funded through programs such as the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) and Department of Energy (DOE). Nexus Energy Center has programs running in Madison, Limestone, Morgan and Cullman Counties. Energy assessments have started in these areas with the Wise Home Energy program and are off to a great start.
