POSITION:    NURSING INSTRUCTOR
                       (Continuation of position contingent upon grant renewal)  

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of a Masters degree in Nursing with clinical experience required.
• Three (3) years of work experience required.
• Active and unencumbered Alabama Registered Nursing license required.
• Ability to perform all nursing clinical rotation duties required.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public required.
• Ability to project a professional and congenial demeanor required.
• Excellent oral, auditory, and written communication skills required.
• Basic computer (word processing) skills required.
• Excellent organizational skills required.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTONS:
The Nursing Instructor shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama State Board of Education and the J.F. Drake State Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.
• Provides quality classroom instruction in the area of Nursing.
• Informs students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance requirements and academic progress.
• Seeks continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, and resources.
• Participates fully in the institutional planning process and assists in carrying out the overall mission of the College.
• Prepares and grades assignments, projects, and examinations as required.
• Assists in registration and pre-registration as needed
• Maintains an inventory of assigned equipment and supplies.
• Serves on college committees when requested.
• Submits required reports to the Division Chair, Associate Dean of Instruction or Dean of Instructional and Student Services.
• Informs students of educational and occupational opportunities.
• Provides a proper instructional environment and maintains good human relations in the classroom so that learning is more effective.
• Participates in faculty and professional organizations.
• Recommends library books and other instructional materials.
• Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts.
• Assumes other work related responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chair, Associate Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instructional and Student Services and/or the  President.

 

SALARY:           Appropriate placement on Alabama State Salary Schedule D-1
                           Salary Range $38,077 - $67,821 (nine months).

                           A summer contract may be available  ($11,756 - $20,973 dependent upon enrollment.
