Policy
Statement
It shall be the policy of J. F. Drake State Technical College to admit on a
first come first served basis all students who meet the established admission
criteria. Admission decisions will be made without regard to the applicant's
race, color, disability, sex, religion, creed, national origin, or age.
What
Are the Admission Requirements?
All applicants must take the pre-admission COMPASS test before registering for
classes at J. F. Drake State Technical College. The COMPASS test results, along
with other data, are used to identify the present strengths and needs of the
applicant. Prospective students must submit a transcript of grades from their
high school or college or GED results, with the admission application. The
applicant will be notified of the day and the time for testing and registration.
Transfer students are responsible for having an official transcript of credits
mailed to the admissions office prior to their first semester for evaluation of
courses that may transfer to Drake State.
Academic
Advisement
Potential students are encouraged to talk with a college counselor and various
program leaders prior to deciding on a particular program of study. For students
who are undecided about an area of interest, Drake's Career Center has a large
assortment of media on different careers. Once a student decides on a program of
study, the program leader of the chosen program becomes the student's academic
advisor.
