Free Adult Education and GED Classes

The J. F. Drake State Community and Technical College Adult Education Program offers FREE Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, and General Educational Development (GED) Classes focused on assisting our students in obtaining the knowledge and skills required for self-sufficiency and employment. Classes are designed to be open-entry open-exit. Our official requirements for entry are listed under Participation Requirements.

 

Areas of Instruction:

  • Basic Skills Instruction
  • GED Preparation – traditional and online classroom support
  • ESL Services – English Language Development

 

Orientation is provided every Friday from 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Please plan on arriving by 8 a.m. in Building 800, Room 805. If you arrive after 8:10 a.m., you will need to attend next Friday's orientation session, as no admittance is allowed after 8:10 a.m. If this orientation time does not work for you, please call us at 256.551.5211 to work out an individualized plan. Orientation will not be held when campus is closed, or as otherwise noted below:

*** Adult Education Orientation will NOT be held on Friday, August 1st and Friday, August 8th. Orientation will resume August 15th.***
